Clyde K. Standley, 71, of Shelbyville, died at 10:22 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2008 in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Beecher City Cemetery, Beecher City, Illinois. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville or the Shelbyville Lions Club.

Clyde was born on May 26, 1937 in Clinton, Arkansas, the son of Mervin K. and Anna Lee McCoy Standley. He graduated from Pana High School in the Class of 1955 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955-1959. He later graduated from the Decatur Barber School in Decatur, Illinois. He owned and operated Standley’s Barber Shop in Shelbyville for 44 years. Clyde was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville and the Shelbyville Lions Club. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and woodworking in his retirement. He married Jeanine A. Maxfield on June 1, 1956.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanine; daughters, Karen Abbey of Shelbyville and Andrea Standley of Bulpitt, Illinois; brothers, William Standley of Tennessee and J.E. Standley of Pana, Illinois; grandchildren, Brad Wilbur serving in the U.S. Army in Iraq and wife Erika of Germany, Doug Martz of Shelbyville, Brandon Martz of Shelbyville and Josh Mansfield of Bulpitt; and great grandson, Alex Wilbur of Germany.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph and Robert Standley; and two nephews, Doug and Chris Standley.
