Daisy I Stevens
(October 17, 1908 – November 26, 2012)
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, 2012 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Gary Crowder officiating and Eastern Star rites by Order of Eastern Star Shelbyville Chapter #69. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Shelby Memorial Hospital Foundation or Lincolnland Hospice.
Daisy was born on October 17, 1908 in Pickaway Township, Shelby County, IL, the daughter of John Henry and Mary Ann Lofland Shaw. She attended Shelbyville High School. Daisy was a C.N.A. at Shelby Memorial Hospital for many years. She later provided in-home care for families in Shelbyville. She attended the former Free Methodist Church of Shelbyville. Daisy was a member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter #69 and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary both in Shelbyville. She married Paul Stevens on January 19, 1925. He died on July 8, 1982.
She is survived by her son, Gayle Stevens of Shelbyville; daughter, Marcella Wirey of Findlay; 10 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; many great grandchildren & step-great grandchildren; many great great grandchildren & step-great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; sons, Paul Kendall Stevens and Lawrence Eldon Stevens; son-in-law, Eugene Wirey; daughters-in-law, Jean Stevens, Roberta Stevens, Sarah Jane Stevens and LeaAnn Welton; seven grandchildren; sisters, Violet Carter and Lilly Shaw; and half-sisters, Rosemary Cresswell, Geneva Dailey and Ethel Jean Shaw.
