Dale “Aaron” Dilley

(March 5, 1975 – March 19, 2023)

Dale “Aaron” Dilley , 48, of Shelbyville, IL, departed his life at 2:13 a.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023 in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Shelbyville, IL.

Aaron was born on March 5, 1975 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Dale Eugene and Peggy (Massey) Dilley.  He was a resident of Shelbyville his entire lifetime.  He enjoyed wrestling PPV events, movie watching, fishing at the lake, wind therapy on his motorcycle, four-wheel riding in the mud, rock and roll music, and his truck, affectionately known as “Jericho”.

Aaron had many friends whom he shared CB tag nights, cruise events through town, playing Xbox, cards or just plain old wrench turning in a garage. He loved a live concert, wrestling event and following the band X-Crush when they were performing locally.  His heart was always open to help his friends.

His grandma, Betty Dilley, raised him and she resides in Casey, IL.  Aaron’s pride and joy was his son, Aiden Dilley.  He spoke with a smile on his face every time his name was mentioned.  Aiden was his life.

Aaron’s surviving family will sadly miss him.  He leaves behind his son, Aiden; grandmother, Betty; siblings, Melissa (Roy) Miller, Ron Massey, Mike (Aleta) Crouch, Stephie Thomas, Matthew (Ashley) Dilley and Michelle Dilley; cousins; many nephews and nieces; and so very many cherished friends, whom he held closely in his life.

Aaron was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dale Edward Dilley; maternal grandparents, Robert and Ernestene Massey; mother, Peggy Gray; father, Dale “Gene” Dilley; and step-mother, Carol Dilley.

The family plans a celebration of his life at a later date.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.  Memorials may be given to his family and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
