Dale Adkins
(December 31, 1925 – October 28, 2011)
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 31, 2011 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg or Strasburg United Methodist Church.
Mr. Adkins was born on December 31, 1925 in Lerna, IL, the son of Burt and Gertrude Millage Adkins. He was a farmer and a member of Shelby County Farm Bureau. Dale was also a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg. He married Emogene R. Kircher on January 26, 1951.
Surviving are his wife, Emogene; daughter, Mary Lou Brehmer and husband Gary of Strasburg; brother-in-law, Harold Kircher and wife Nancy of Decatur; sister-in-law, Francis Adkins of Mattoon; two grandsons, Seth Brehmer of Strasburg and Zed Brehmer and wife Brandi of Strasburg; and one great granddaughter, Emma Louise Brehmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carroll, Floyd and Ithiel Adkins; and granddaughter, Courtney Brehmer.
