Dale E Short

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March, 22, 2019 at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Mark Sanders and Gary Crowder officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 -11:00 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Shelby Christian Church.

Dale was born on February 8, 1953, in Decatur, IL, the son of Floyd and Betty (Sill) Short. He grew up in Cerro Gordo, IL and moved to Shelbyville in 1966. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1971, and attended Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL. Dale farmed with his dad and sold real estate for many years. Dale served on the Assumption Cooperative Grain Company as a board member for 13 years, Vice President for 7 years, and President for 5 years. Dale retired from farming in 2011, and sold crop insurance for 18 years. His favorite pastimes included drag racing, spending time with family, and dining out with many wonderful friends. Dale was a member of Shelby Christian Church, Shelby Co. Farm Bureau and the NHRA (National Hot Rod Association). He married Louann Smith on January 5, 1973 in Shelbyville, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Louann of Shelbyville; sons, Brian (Elizabeth Doty) Short of Effingham, IL, Benjamin (Suzanne Murphy) Short of Mt. Zion, IL.; four grandchildren Brock and Brianne Short of Effingham, IL, Eleanor and Everett Short of Mt. Zion, IL; and brother Dan (Denise) Short of Weeki Wachee, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Ronnie and Richard Short.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mario Velasco, the nurses at Cancer Care Specialists, Dr. Urbano Dauz and Lincolnland Hospice for their kindness and care.
