Dale W Bauer, Sr.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. E. Wade Helmkamp officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Shelbyville, IL or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.

Dale was born August 9, 1931 in Strasburg, IL the son of Orville G. and Laura E. Von Behren Bauer. He attended Stewardson-Strasburg High School. Dale was a lineman for Shelby Electric Cooperative, retiring in 1994 after 35 years. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Shelbyville, where he served as a trustee and usher. Dale was also a former member of the Shelbyville Lions Club and was active in the Shelbyville Boy Scout program with his sons in their youth. Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, boating and traveling. He married Georgia Ann Storm on June 15, 1952.

He is survived by his wife Georgia; sons Dale William Bauer, Jr. and wife Jill of Taylorville, IL, and Timothy Bauer and wife Teresa of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren, Jered Bauer and wife Beth of Maryville, IL, Bryan Bauer and wife Becky of Bloomington, IL, Mauree Priest and husband Brent of Noblesville, IN, and Andrew Bauer of Shelbyville, IL; great-grandchildren Ainsley Bauer, Ava Bauer, Camille Bauer, Breely Bauer, Baylee Bauer, Dylan Stephens and Drake Stephens; sisters, Audrey Dilley of Lansing, IL, Marilyn Thompson of Mattoon, IL and Arlene Koontz of Lakewood, IL.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leslie Bauer; sister, Lorena Thomas; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Deagan Stephens.
