Dana Lynn Garlick, 64, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 12:59 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2025, in her home, following the passing of her husband, David, on the preceding Friday.
Dana was born on April 14, 1960, in Harvey, IL, the daughter of Harvey Graham Treible, Jr. and Ruth Elaine (Degenhart) Treible. She grew up in Woodstock, IL, and graduated from Champaign Central High School in Champaign, IL. She would speak fondly of the exciting year she spent in Paris, France during middle school. Dana earned her associate degree in graphic arts from Parkland College. She married David Christopher Garlick on March 3, 1984.
Dana and David had a shared love for science fiction and fantasy. In fact, they named two of their children after characters from Dr. Who. She also enjoyed writing, knitting, and other fabric arts. She was dedicated to the care of her beloved husband, David, who lived many years with multiple sclerosis. For many years Dana was a devoted and active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Shelbyville, IL.
Dana is survived by her children, Christopher D Garlick of Shelbyville, IL, Avery Adric Degenhart of Flossmoor, IL, Nyssa Marie Gumulauski of Lake Station, IN, and James Donald Garlick of Danville, IL; stepchildren, Kethan Garlick of Champaign, IL, and Morgan Jendrzjeczyk of Urbana, IL; mother, R. Elaine Degenhart of Park Forest, IL; brother-in-law, Larry Garlick (wife Becky) of Round Lake, IL; sister-in-law Sandy Garlick Quinn of McHenry, IL; grandson, Jackson Garlick; and five step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Garlick on March 14, 2025; and father, H. Graham Treible, Jr.
A memorial service to celebrate the lives of Dana and David will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, in the First Assembly of God in Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Don Jefferies Officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2025, in the church. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL was conducted prior to the services. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nationalmssociety.org) to help people live with MS and stay active.
