Darlene Baker
(September 27, 1942 – June 05, 2017)
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Kathy Lewis officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Hubbartt Cemetery, near Beecher City, IL. Memorials may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or Donor’s Choice.
Darlene was born on September 27, 1942 in Clarksburg, IL, the daughter of Charles Mason and Ruth Elizabeth Syfert Reed. She graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in the Class of 1960. Darlene was a former postmistress for the Mode Post Office. She was a member of the Mode United Methodist Church. Darlene enjoyed traveling, playing cards and going to the Edgewood Opry. She married Gary Lynn Baker on July 19, 1960. He died on July 16, 2010.
She is survived by her children, Shelly Baker of Mattoon, IL and Brian Baker and wife Lori of Vandalia, IL; brothers, Ronald Reed and wife Nancy of Effingham, IL, Gene Reed of Allenville, IL and Troy Reed and wife Susan of Mode, IL; sisters, Connie Hawes and husband Butch of Mode, IL and Cheryl Reed of Mode, IL; grandchildren, Brianna Faulhaber and husband Jason, Boone Baker and wife Jess, Ian Grzelak, Aubrie Hout and Averie Hout; and great granddaughter, Kimber Faulhaber.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Gary.
