Pastor David Dale Beerbower
, 76, of Assumption, IL, passed away at 8:09 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2024 in his daughter’s home in Charleston, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:05 a.m on Friday, March 22, 2024 in Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Assumption, IL with Pastor Dan Watkins and Rev. Tom Marsh officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024 in the church and one hour before service time on Friday. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024 in Jack Oak Cemetery, Greenup, IL. Memorials may be given to Mt. Pleasant Church of God or Samaritan’s Purse. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.
David was born on February 4, 1948 in Fort Scott, Kansas, the son of Howard, Sr. and Betty (Patton) Beerbower. He graduated from Fort Scott High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, KS. David married Ceretta Ann Wofford on Sept. 23, 1977 and they had four children, John, Elizabeth, Amy and Karen. David was a junior high teacher in Fort Scott, KS and Nevada, MO for 17.5 years, while owning and operating a cattle ranch in Fort Scott, KS. He answered God’s call into the ministry and in faith moved his family to Illinois and served Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Willis Chapel Church of God, Melrose Church of God and First Christian Church and their communities for 35 years.
David is survived by his children, John David Beerbower (Jeanna) of Lindenhurst, IL, Elizabeth Ann Beerbower of Fairview Heights, IL, Amy Marie Nichols (John) of Charleston, IL and Karen Sue D’Angelo (Matthew) of Island Lake, IL; and ten grandchildren, Riley, Brett, Trace, and Brady Beerbower, Ethan, Emma, and Carter Nichols, and Ellie, Lilly, and Jake D’Angelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ceretta on November 21, 1999; and brother, Howard Richard Beerbower, Jr.(Lisa).
