David D. Faulkner, 68, of Shelbyville, died at 11:28 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007 in Shelby Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Wayne Polk officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Church of Christ in Shelbyville or the Shelby Memorial Hospital Diabetes Support Group.

Mr. Faulkner was born on June 25, 1938 in Shelbyville, the son of Carl F. and Dorothy Belle Johnson Faulkner. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1956. Among his many high school athletic accomplishments, David still holds the school track & field record for the discus throw and was a member of the recently honored football team of 1954. He began working with his brother-in-law, Lowell Gaddis, at Gaddis Grocery in Shelbyville as a meat cutter. He later owned and operated Gaddis Grocery in Shelbyville and Double D Meats in Windsor. He also was a salesman for Bitzer-Taggart Motor Company, Don Jones Auto Sales where he was a partner and most recently Reynolds Auto Sales all in Shelbyville. He was a member and Elder of the Church of Christ in Shelbyville and a former member of the Shelbyville Lions Club where he was active for over 20 years. David was an avid coin collector. He married Doris Gaddis on July 31, 1958.

Surviving are his wife, Doris; son, Cris Faulkner and wife Michelle of Harristown; daughters, Pam Woolley and husband John of Monticello and Patti Faulkner of Taylorville; brothers, Carl Faulkner, Jr. of Decatur and Ron Faulkner and wife Cheryl of Shelbyville; sisters, Barbara Lenz and Marilyn Harley both of Shelbyville, Linda Cole and husband Larry of Henton, Janet Wankel of Mt. Sterling and Debbie Faulkner of Seminole, FL; and three grandchildren, Blake and Eric Woolley and Victoria Faulkner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Margery Wilson.
