David E Wirey

In keeping with David’s wishes, services will not be held at this time. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in Oshkosh, WI and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
David was born on October 29, 1952 in Decatur, IL, the son of Paul Eugene and Marcella Lee Stevens Wirey. He graduated from Findlay High School in the Class of 1970 and served in the Army National Guard in Decatur, IL. David married Cheryl Cutler on September 8, 1970. David farmed in the Findlay area and he and Cheryl also owned and operated Wirey’s Upholstery near Findlay, IL for many years. David was a private pilot and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in Oshkosh, WI. He and Cheryl loved traveling and spending the winter months in Quartzsite, AZ, where they enjoyed four wheeling.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; son, David Eugene Wirey II (Ann) of Melissa, TX; daughter Jenna Getz (Jody) of Stephenville, TX; sister, Mary Wirey of Findlay, IL; and five grandchildren, Makayla, Chloe, Alicyn, Catherine and Lane.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, John Edward Wirey and James Lee Wirey.
