David C. Garlick

David Christopher Garlick, 66, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana, IL. His death preceded the passing of his wife, Dana, the following Monday, March 17, 2025.

Mr. Garlick was born on January, 19, 1959, in Chicago, IL, the son of Gerald Dominick Garlick and Mary Jane (Jendrzjeczyk) Garlick. In his youth, David was very involved in Boy Scouts of America and was a recipient of the Eagle Scout Award. He graduated from William Fremd High School in Palatine, IL, with a full scholarship for engineering at the University of Illinois. He began his studies in engineering at U of I and later earned his associate degree in Visualization Computer Graphics from Parkland College in Champaign, IL. David was a former Instructional Communications Technical Operator (ICTO) at U of I and later built computer keyboards at Rich, Inc. in Franklin Park, IL. He married Dana Lynn Treible on March 3, 1984. David was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Shelbyville, IL, and enjoyed playing chess and fixing computers in his spare time.

David is survived by his children, Kethan Garlick of Champaign, IL, Morgan Jendrzjeczyk of Urbana, IL, Christopher D Garlick of Shelbyville, IL, Avery Adric Degenhart of Flossmoor, IL, Nyssa Marie Gumulauski of Lake Station, IN, and James Donald Garlick of Danville, IL; brother, Larry Garlick (wife Becky) of Round Lake, IL; sister, Sandy Garlick Quinn of McHenry, IL; six grandchildren; step-mother, Sue Garlick of Arlington Heights, IL; and mother-in-law, R. Elaine Degenhart of Park Forest, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, H. Graham Treible, Jr.

A memorial service to celebrate the lives of David and Dana will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025, in the First Assembly of God in Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Don Jefferies Officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2025, in the church. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL was conducted prior to the services. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nationalmssociety.org) to help people live with MS and stay active.
