David P Creviston

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Gary Crowder officiating. Visitation will be from noon-2:00 p.m. Saturday, in the funeral home. Private family burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield, IL. Memorials may be given to Shelbyville VFW Post #4829 or to the family.
Dave was born on November 9, 1948 in Springfield, IL, the son of Page Bernard and Anna Rose Smith Creviston. Dave graduated from Rochester High School in the Class of 1967. He entered the U.S. Army on February 3, 1969. Dave was a combat medic during the Vietnam War and earned three Purple Heart Awards along with a Bronze Star with valor. He was a member of Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81, Band of Brothers Motorcycle Club, Immaculate Conception Church, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #4829, and formerly served on the Shelby County Rescue Squad and Dive Team. Dave worked in the concrete finishing trade throughout his life and also worked for the City of Shelbyville Street Department for over 30 years, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, drinking coffee with his friends, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and attending the Vietnam Reunions for “F-Troop” and “23rd Medical”. Crevy was extremely humble, never met a stranger, and would give the shirt off his back to anyone. Dave married Karen Kinnett on June 22, 1969.
Dave is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Dusti (Dusty) Russell of St. Petersburg, FL, Tassi (Chris) Beals of Shelbyville, IL, and Kayci Creviston of Shelbyville, IL; brothers, Steve (Chris) Rhodes of Bell Buckle, TN, Jeff (Rhonda) Rhodes of Springfield, IL; sisters, Sue (Jim) Cousin of Rochester, IL, and Delores Creviston of Springfield, IL; grandchildren, Thor David, Titan, and Talon Russell, Gannon, Jude, and Mischa Beals, Wylder Crevy Williams, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father Jesse Rhodes; brothers, John, Jim, Don, Russ, Herschel, and Melvin Creviston; and sister, Joyce Breeding.
