David W Donald

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Howard Sallee officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Donald was born on October 22, 1929 in Shelby County, IL the son of James W., Sr. and Ruth Merry Donald, Sr. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1948. David was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for Caterpillar in Decatur, until his retirement. David was also a retired Free Methodist minister. He was a member of the former Shelbyville Free Methodist Church and attended Fourth Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville. He married Dolores J. Robertson on August 25, 1951.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores; son, Timothy L. “Tim” Donald of Shelbyville; daughters, Julie A. Timmons (Jon) of Warrensburg, IL, Becky L. Fox (Kevin) of Mode, Valerie J. Schwenker (Jim) of Shelbyville, and Erica J. Donald of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Connie S. Donald of Shelbyville; brother, John Donald (Judy) of Shelbyville; sisters, Ruth Knudsen and Emily Thomas both of Shelbyville; 17 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Brad, David and Scott Donald; one brother, James Donald, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Byron Knudsen and Omer “Bub” Thomas; and one grandson, Deriek Shride.
