Dean Austin
(May 20, 1927 – October 21, 2007)
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Lee Lovett officiating. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Association or First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville.
Mr. Austin was born on May 20, 1927 in Clarksburg, Illinois, the son of Gilbert K. and Nancy V. McLaughlin Austin. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the Army and the Army Air Corps. Dean was a printer for 49 years. He began working in the printing department for Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou in Shelbyville in 1947 and later owned and operated Elden Dean Austin Commercial Printing in Shelbyville until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville and a 58 year member of Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 of Shelbyville. He married Mariann Chamberlain on July 4, 1948.
Surviving are his wife, Mariann; three grandsons, Bret Austin of Shelbyville, Brock Austin and wife Crystal of Shelbyville and Christopher Austin and wife Tabitha of Mt. Zion; and three great grandchildren, Daric and Connor Austin and Nicholas Hoehn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Camron K. Austin on September 30, 2007; and three brothers, Herbert, Halden and Melden “Babe” Austin.
