Debbie L Calantoni

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2016 in the First Church of the Nazarene, 701 W. North 3rd Street, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Flag presentation will be by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Legion Auxiliary of Shelbyville, IL.

Debbie was born on March 15, 1951 in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Charles T. and Doris Jean (Logsdon) McWhirter. Her father died when Debbie was very young and her mother then married Walter Washburn. Debbie attended high school in Bricktown, New Jersey before entering the U. S. Army, where served in the Women’s Army Corps from 1970-1972 during the Vietnam War era. Debbie was a part of the Army Special Services “3rd Army Soldier Show” where she performed song and dance routines from Broadway Productions and popular hits throughout the country. After her term, she continued to perform and play with musicians such as Anne Murray and Johnny Rivers. Debbie was a member of the band “Rare Vintage” and performed in various night clubs across the country. She married Raymond John Calantoni on October 5, 1984. Debbie then worked as a customer service representative in the corporate level for several years. Debbie and her husband Ray moved the Shelbyville in November of 1991. Together they owned and operated Calantoni Plumbing in Shelbyville. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Shelbyville. Debbie enjoyed singing and harmonizing music with her son, socializing with friends, and watching scary movies. She will be remembered as a strong and supportive wife, mother and friend and for always taking care of her family. Throughout her life, Debbie was an inspiration to those she met and touched.

She is survived by her husband Ray; and son, Daniel Ray Calantoni of Chicago, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father; and uncle, Terry Beccue.
