Delbert E. Trimble, 88, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 3:35 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, in Eastview Terrace, Sullivan, IL with family by his side.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, and from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, both in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be given to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
Mr. Trimble was born on February 15, 1936, in Delavan, IL, the son of Floyd Lester “Beanie” and Anna Lurean (Nichols) Trimble. At the age of 4, Delbert became a Shriner’s Kid when he had surgery at a Shriner’s Hospital in Chicago to repair a birth defect in his right arm. Delbert’s first job was serving as custodian for Sanner Chapel, near Moweaqua, IL. He graduated from Macon High School in the Class of 1954 and later from Brown’s Business College in Decatur. Delbert worked for Schultz’s Chevrolet in Stewardson, IL and for Leach-Wilson Chevrolet in Shelbyville, IL, where he was their accountant for over 50 years. Delbert also served as Rose Township Treasurer and as a jailer for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department. Delbert married Irma I. (Reynolds) Warner on April 9, 1977. Delbert and Irma owned and operated Reaban’s Restaurant in Shelbyville until 1989. Delbert enjoyed gardening, collecting Mickey Mouse memorabilia and reading Western Novels, especially those written by Louis L’Amour. He loved to visit and never met a stranger.
He is survived by his children, Penny Christman (Mark Krmenec) of Walworth, NY, Dennis Trimble (Diane) of Austin, TX and Patti Woods (Grant) of Yantisville, IL; step-daughter, Julie Warner (John) of Tower Hill, IL; grandchildren, Elizabeth Cunico (Cory), Jessica Christman (Jason Jipson), Jamie Sharp (Sara), Kimberly Endsley and Tabitha Davis (Billy Mendoza); step-grandchildren, Stacy Parkinson (Matt) of Aledo, IL, Matthew Warner (Kayla) of Effingham, IL and Jason Mars (Christy) of Nixa, MO; great grandchildren, Arabella Cunico, Lorelei Cunico, William Bendler, Noah Bray, Johnathon Pope, Havannah Miller, Issac Reider, Eva Sharp and Cora Sharp; and step-great grandchildren, Melody Parkinson, Rayla Parkinson, Keyan Parkinson and Jarett Mars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Beanie and Anna Trimble; wife, Irma Trimble; stepson, Jimmy Warner; stepdaughter, Judy Donald (John); grandson, Jeremy Sharp; and sister, Carrie Ellen Trimble.
