Delores I. Blackwell

Delores Irene Blackwell , 76, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 5:57 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.
Delores was born on October 5, 1947, in Henton, IL, the daughter of Earl C. and Helen Lucille (Walborn) Mose. She attended Shelbyville schools and graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1965. Delores married Glenn Earl “Blackie” Blackwell on August 12, 1975, and he preceded her in death on October 29, 2021. Delores worked in the laundry department at Shelbyville Manor for many years and owned and operated a taxi service in Shelbyville. She later worked at the Farm House restaurant in Shelbyville and Fedders in Effingham. She was a member of the Archery Club in Shelbyville. Delores enjoyed crocheting, woodworking, mushroom hunting, gardening, and selling pumpkin blossoms.
Delores is survived by her children, Faron (Vicki) Blackwell of Shelbyville, IL, April (Kevin) Baker of Grenada, MS, Jeremy (Jamie) Blackwell of Shelbyville, IL and Nathan (Lucinda) Blackwell of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Janet Randolph of Murphysboro, IL; grandchildren, Crystal (Jason) Eschert, Trevor (Rachael) Blackwell, Jeremy (Alexis) Blackwell, Phillip Blackwell, Eric (Rachel) Thomas, Kyle (Kayla) Thomas, Wesley (Diana) Thomas, Kaleb (Katelyn) Baker, Dylan Baker, Ashli Blackwell, Brittany Blackwell, Kaylee Phegley, and Hunter Whalen; and one great grandson, Dean Earl Blackwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn; daughter, Carla June Thomas; infant daughter, Rachel Elizabeth Blackwell; daughter-in-law, Anita Blackwell; two brothers, Gaylord and David Mose; and one sister, Marjorie Milby.
In keeping with Delores’s wishes, her family will celebrate her life privately. Memorials may be given to Siteman Cancer Center or to the Activity Fund at Shelbyville Manor. and mailed to Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, 415 North Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
