Delores J. Phares

Delores Jane Phares, 91, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL. 

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, January 10, 2025, at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL, with Rev. Ron Dickinson officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – noon on Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana, IL. Memorials may be given to the Findlay United Methodist Church. 

Delores was born on July 21, 1933, in Pana, IL, the daughter of John and Evelyn (Hughes) Woolard. She graduated from Pana High School in the Class of 1951. Delores worked as a waitress at Jack Sapp’s Café in Shelbyville for several years. She married Dwight Phares in December of 1978, and they enjoyed living near Arrowhead Campground, Findlay, IL. Delores was a member of the Findlay United Methodist Church. 

Delores is survived by her husband, Dwight; son David Dunaway (Sandra); son-in-law, Brad Reid of Wilmington, NC; step-sons, Larry Phares (Laureen) of Arizona and Ronald Phares (Debbie) of Springfield, IL; step-son-in-law, Bill Luttrell of Woodstock, IL; sister, Margaret Willson of Pana, IL; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Debbie Dunaway Reid; step-daughter, Carolyn Sue Luttrell; and siblings, Johnny, Albert, Joe and Tommy.
