Dick McCormick
(December 13, 1917 – September 12, 2011)
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with Rev. Richard Hargrave officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or Shelbyville Lions Club.
Mr. McCormick was born on December 13, 1917 in Stewardson, IL, the son of Clinton Clarian and Julia Muchow McCormick. He graduated from Stewardson High School in the Class of 1935. He was a retired mechanic from Massey Ferguson in Shelbyville. He also was a former oil field worker, restaurant owner, farmer and an employee of Allis-Chalmers. He was a former member of the Shelbyville Lions Club. He married Bernis Pauline Elliott on January 29, 1941.
Surviving are his wife, Bernis; sons, Donald Ray McCormick and wife Michele of Folsom, CA, Arlyn McCormick and wife Tess of Godfrey, IL and Stan “Butch” McCormick of Shelbyville; daughter, Cindy Collins and husband Don of Logansport, IN; sister-in-law, Shirley McCormick of Stewardson; three grandchildren, Jody McCormick, Angela Makowiec and Stephanie Patel; two great grandchildren, Nick and Emily Makowiec; and nieces and nephews: Belva Rincker of Shelbyville, Ferdie McCormick of Stewardson, Jennie Lou Courson of Dieterich, Daryl McCormick of Stewardson and Dayla Gentry of Neoga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ferdinand and Arlyn McCormick; and sister, Chestine Peifer.
