Donald E. “Donnie”  Fisher

Donald E. “Donnie” Fisher , 58, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 1:43 p.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Tyus Brooks officiating.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2023 and also from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 both in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL.  Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Fire Protection District for Equipment or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Donnie was born on October 20, 1964 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Glen E. and Elizabeth Ann (Stephens) Fisher.  He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1983.  Donnie was a fireman for Shelbyville Fire Protection District for over 32 years, retiring as a Captain on April 10, 2017.  He began working for Johnston’s IGA in Shelbyville, IL, where he was manager of the frozen foods and dairy.  Donnie later worked in the warehouse at International Paper in Shelbyville and in the feed house at ADM in Decatur, IL. Most recently, Donnie was a deliveryman for Short Furniture in Shelbyville and a licensed pyrotechnic for Nostalgia Pyrotechnics.  He married Michelle Prosser on June 27, 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle; son, Derek M. Fisher of Shelbyville, IL; mother, Annie Fisher of Shelbyville, IL; two brothers; and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glen Fisher.
