Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 in Knobs Baptist Church, Tower Hill, IL with Rev. Randy Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Burial will be in Knobs Cemetery, Tower Hill, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Knobs Baptist Church, Tower Hill, IL or The Gideons International.
Don was born on June 10, 1935 in Danville, IN, the son of George and Lily Pyne Murphy. He was a Production Line Supervisor for Caterpillar Tractor Company in Decatur, IL working for 35 years, from 1955 until his retirement in 1990. Don was a member of Knobs Baptist Church in Tower Hill, IL and Shelbyland Camp of The Gideons International. He married Dee Foster on June 24, 1955.
He is survived by his wife, Dee; son, Donald R. “Murph” Murphy and wife Joan of Tower Hill, IL; daughter, Deanna McKinney and husband David of Decatur, IL; brother, Art Murphy and wife Shirley of Tower Hill, IL; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
