Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Visitation from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Manor.
Mr. Sprague was born on July 30, 1922 in Shelbyville, the son of Orval and Mabel Downs Sprague. He graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1940 and Sparks Business College in 1942. Don was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of WW II. He was a bookkeeper for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville and later for C.G. Whitlock Processing Company in Springfield until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the First Christian Church, VFW Post # 4829, Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 and Shelbyville Moose Lodge #1294 all of Shelbyville. He married Carolyn L. Gallagher on September 17, 1960. She died on May 11, 1999.
Surviving are his children, Beverly Prosser and husband Scott of Mansfield, TX, Jackie Bennett of Windsor and Donald E. Sprague II of Shelbyville; five grandchildren, Jeff Prosser and wife Lindsay and Cliff Williamson all of Mansfield, TX, Jake Bennett of Windsor, and Jennifer Duckett and husband Billy and Amanda Sprague all of Shelbyville; and four great grandchildren, Chase and Tate Williamson and Jasmine and Chase Bennett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn; and grandson, Josh Bennett.
