Donald Gene Jeffries , 80, of Findlay, IL, passed away at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2023 in Pana Community Hospital, Pana, IL.

Private family services will be held at a later date.  Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Saving Orphaned Animals and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Don was born on July 25, 1942 in Brumley, MO, the son of Virgil and Cecil Jeffries.  He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.  Don worked as a millwright for ADM in Decatur until his retirement.  He then worked for Rural King in Mt. Zion.  Don married Nancy C. Maycroft on July 18, 1992.  He loved hunting, fishing, refurbishing fishing lures and taking long walks through the timber with his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Daniel Gene Jeffries of Shelbyville, IL; step-daughters, Heidi Cole (Brad) of Sullivan, IL and Gretchen Wise of Findlay, IL; granddaughter, Freyja Jeffries of Shelbyville, IL; six step-grandchildren, Ashley Bishop, Ryan Cole and Andrew Cole all of Sullivan, IL, Zach Martin of Mattoon, IL, and Rebecca Estell and Emily Wise both of Findlay, IL: 17 step-great grandchildren; three brothers, Jerry Jeffries, Dennis Jeffries and Lester Jeffries; and two sisters, Erma Byrd and Fay Burks.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, LaVerne Jeffries and Tim Jeffries; and four sisters, Louise Thorsan, Lucy Hargis, Ruth Shoemaker and Nelda Varmer.
