Graveside services with military rites will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney, IL with Rev. Paul McGhghy officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Friday, August 14, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Donald was born December 26, 1929 in Olney, IL, the son of Burleigh and Ethel Marie Payne Sires. He was a US Army veteran. Donald was a machine operator at Caterpillar in Decatur, IL, retiring after 25 years of service. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 751 in Decatur, IL. He married Sandra Jean Bell on June 3, 1967 in Rock Island, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Ronald Lee Hackett (Christina) of Kerrville, TX; daughters, Cheryl Lee Harmon (Tom) of West Buxton, ME, Tonya Sue White (John) of Sullivan, IL and Michelle Lee Sires-Iffert (Curt) of Fairview Heights, IL; grandchildren: Aaron David Louer, Christopher Michael Louer, Isabella Grace Iffert, Olivia Danielle Iffert, Makayla Faith Iffert, Kaitlyn Aryana White, Catherine Alexis Torma, Tonya Lee LeClair and Shelley Marie Pelkey; and eight great-grandchild, Hunter Stanton Bradley Louer, Ryker Leo Torma, Tatum Noelle Torma, Jessie Thomas LeClair, Jake Paul LeClair, Zane Christian Stodder, Caleb Thomas Pelkey, and Seamus Farroll Pelkey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leonard, Victor and Bobby Sires; and a sister, Virginia Parson.
