Donald L Vance

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2020 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, IL with Rev. Alan Sample officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Guard.
Don was born on June 15, 1930 in Palmyra, IL, the son of Kirwin Ralph and Lydia Lucille (Miller) Vance. He graduated from Palmyra High School in the Class of 1948. Don was a US Army veteran of the Korean War. He married Mildred Janice Simpson on June 17, 1951. Don was a farmer and a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed quilting and gardening.
He is survived by his son, David Vance (Rebecca) of Shelbyville, IL; brothers, Norman Vance (Janie) of Palmyra, IL, Coy Vance (Brenda) of Modesto, CA and Kenneth Vance of Springfield, IL; three grandchildren, Derrick Vance, Jessica Edwards and Sarah Graf; and six great grandchildren, Haylee Miller, Liam Leslie, Carson Leslie, Amelia Graf, Elaine Graf and Solise Graf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred Vance on December 9, 2007; and sisters, Phyllis Kramer and Thelma Smith.
