Donald W. Hatch, Sr., 80, of Moweaqua, IL, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021 in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2021 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Tom Gallion officiating.  Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.  Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard.  Memorials may be given to the Cancer Care Specialists of Decatur or to the Hatch family.

Don was born on December 3, 1940 in Decatur, IL, the son of Donald William and Mildred Helen (Witt) Hatch.   He served his country in the U.S. Navy.  Don was a switchman for the Norfolk Southern Railroad in Decatur, IL, for 40 years until his retirement.  He was baptized at the former General Baptist Church in Moweaqua, where he was a member.  Don enjoyed collecting model trains, hunting, fishing and gardening.  He enjoyed meeting for coffee with his buddies at the bowl, and most of all, spending time and enjoying life with his children and grandchildren. He married the love of his life, Vada Mae Tull on August 29, 1964.  She preceded him in death on September 9, 2000.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Jackson (Robert) of Lake Orion, MI; son, Donald W. “Skip” Hatch, Jr. (Peggy) of Moweaqua, IL; step-daughters, Vada Lynn Waller of Milwaukee, WI, and Cathy Jennings (Harold) of Bloomington, IL; step-sons, Robert Stevens of Blue Ridge, GA, Gary Tull of Gainsville, GA, Tracy Tull of Spartanburg, SC; and Ben Tull of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Shirley Irwin (Bill) of Decatur, IL, and Linda Skelley of Mt. Zion, IL; brother, James Hatch (Sherry) of Franklin, TN; 21 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vada Hatch; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and his beloved cat, Jewels.
