Donna Jewell Johnson , 94, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 8:55 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2023 in her residence with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2023 in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Mark Sanders officiating. Visitation will be from noon – 2:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church Food Pantry.

Donna was born on July 20, 1928 in Middlesworth, IL, the daughter of Forrest St. John and Grayce Mae (Richards) Brown. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1946. Donna married Warren Leotis Johnson on May 16, 1948 and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1986. Her first job was working as a Popcorn Girl at the Roxy Theatre in Shelbyville. She later worked at the Shelby County Farm Bureau, Sears, and retired from Breeding Accounting Service all in Shelbyville. Following her retirement, Donna enjoyed traveling with her best friend, Eileen Wiley, filling in at The Morgan House and Mose, Yockey, Brown, and Kull, spending time with her family and attending grandchildren’s events. Donna attended Shelby Christian Church, served as an election judge and enjoyed attending Fighting Illini basketball games and playing Bunco. Donna was a sweet, friendly, kind and out-going lady that never met a stranger. She went by the names of “Granny”, “Jewels”, “Aunt Julie” and “The Old Woman”.  Donna loved to talk to anyone and was the life of the party. She loved cooking for holidays and baking for her family.

Donna is survived by her son, Jeff Johnson of Shelbyville; daughter, Debbie Hammond and husband Tom of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Staci Harper (Jason) of Delavan, IL and Jake Hammond (Brooke) of Lakewood, IL; six great grandchildren, Myles, Amelia, and Whyatt Hammond, Macie Pineda (Brennan), Cayla Harper (Justin Kensinger), and Miley Harper; and one great great granddaughter, Lylah Pineda.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Johnson; parents, Forrest and Grayce Brown; and sister, Jackie Rodgers.
