Doris L Hanson

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2019 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 27, 2019. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville or Gideons International.
Doris Lee was born on April 27, 1933 in Wood River, IL, the daughter of Charles A. and Ethel G. (Stanton) McDonald. She graduated from Cowden High School in the Class of 1950 and later attended Greenville College. Doris Lee began working for the Shelbyville Telephone Company and then co-owned and operated WSHY Radio Station in Shelbyville, with her husband Roy. She later worked in the Superintendent’s Office in the Rockford School District. Doris Lee loved music and served as the church pianist for the former Shelbyville Free Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Shelbyville, IL. Doris Lee married Richard L. Storm in 1951. She later married Roy Lee Hanson on November 2, 1974. He died on October 21, 2011.
She is survived by her sons, Charles “Ed” (Kelly) Storm of Shelbyville, IL, Rich (Suellen) Storm of Shelbyville, IL, Doug Storm of Normal, IL and Johnny Hanson of Taos, NM; daughters, Nancy (Terry) Wheat of Shelbyville, IL and Misty (Ken) Burger of Greencastle, IN; daughter-in-law, Nikki Hanson of Westervelt, IL; brother, Alva McDonald of Godfrey, IL; sisters, Jean Poulos of Santa Cruz, CA and Ruth Harris of Vancouver, British Columbia; 20 grandchildren, Jason Storm (Heather), Trevor Storm (Jenni), Natalie Storm, Jennifer Storm McCullough, Carla Storm Luther (Jason), Travis Wheat (Alyssa), Adrienne Wheat-Millan (Jaime), Tyler Wheat, Kyloni Hanson, Zen Hanson, Taylor Davis, Nick Burger, Shaylee Davis, Tyler Burger, AJ Burger, Joshua Burger, Heather Burger, Paige, Bridget Riley, and Taylor Waldrop; and 13 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Hanson; son, James Hanson, brother, Otis McDonald; and granddaughter, Laura Storm.
