Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL with Rev. Steven Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in Grace Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg, IL, Lutheran Care Center, Altamont, IL or Strasburg Community Foundation.
Dorothy was delivered into earthly life to Mr. Louis and Mrs. Clara (Spannagel) Reel, along with her twin sister, Doris, on Sunday, December 16, 1928 in Strasburg, IL. Dorothy was reborn in the waters of Holy Baptism, administered by Rev. E. F. Mueller on December 26, 1928. She professed and confirmed the faith into which she was baptized on Palm Sunday, April 18, 1943, by Rev. L. Stuebe, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg. She was joined by the rite of Holy Matrimony to Mr. Gene M. Stremming on October 9, 1949 by Rev. G. A. Lueck. They were blessed with 55 years of marriage and blessed by God with two children –Scott and Tim. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Strasburg, a former St. Paul’s Ladies Aid member, belonged to the Strasburg Square Dance Club, and served as a Village of Strasburg Trustee for four years. Dorothy was retired, and enjoyed crocheting and knitting, gardening, and being outside in her yard.
She is survived by her son, Tim Stremming (Kim) of Edwardsville, IL; two granddaughters, Dr. Jane Stremming of Denver, CO and Emily Stremming of St. Louis, MO; her twin sister, Doris Stremming of Effingham, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded into heaven by her parents; husband, Gene; son, Scott; and five sisters, Grace Schmitt, Pearl Eyrse, Fern Kull, Ruth Thomas, and Joyce Kull.
