Private family graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in Miller Cemetery, next to Gallagher Chapel Cemetery, near Fancher, IL with Rev. Greg Breeden officiating. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to American Red Cross.
Dorothy was born on May 10, 1956 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Edward E. and Bertha E. (Schrock) Miller. She married Steven L. Clawson on May 30, 1975 in Shelbyville, IL. They were married for over 39 years and had two sons. Dorothy graduated from Cowden-Herrick High School in the Class of 1974. She also graduated from Sparks Business College with a certificate in Accounting. Years later, she was a certified substitute teacher at Sparks Business College for Accounting and Typing classes.
Dorothy was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church for many years. She also attended the First Church of the Nazarene. She taught children’s Sunday school for several years. She also led ladies fellowship meetings for about a year. She was a volunteer for the Shelbyville Chapter of the American Red Cross for seven years.
She is survived by her husband, Steven; sons, Brent D. Clawson of Shelbyville, IL and Derek G. Clawson (fiancée Mary) of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Joyce Randolph (Eugene) of Greenville, IL; brothers, David Miller (Pamela) of Shelbyville, IL, Timothy Miller of Mode, IL and Richard Miller (Christine) of Charleston, IL; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Calvin.
