Dorothy V Gleason

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2007 in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Don Devore officiating. Visitation from 12:30 p.m. Sunday until time of service. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Dorothy was born on May 14, 1923 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Alva Amos and Maude Elma Hilliard Jones. She loved to dance and in earlier years she and husband Clarence belonged to a square dancing club. They also enjoyed skate dancing. Dorothy had a beautiful collection of angels of which she loved so very much. She had a special love of dogs and walked dogs at the Humane Society in Springfield, IL. For several years she devoted her time to working in nursing home and hospitals taking care of the elderly and the ill. The last two years of her life were spent in Kenosha, Wisconsin, where her daughter took excellent care of her.
Surviving are her daughter, Marlene (Glen) Compton of Winthrop Harbor, IL; son, Gary (Jeanie) Creath of Eldon, MO; sister, Hazel (Forrest) West of Shelbyville, IL; and five grandchildren, Melissa Boldizar of Decatur, IL, Shannon Creath of Mattoon, IL, Blake Compton of Frankfort, MI, Courtney Compton of Winthrop Harbor, IL and Matthew Creath of Kansas City, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Clarence Creath; second husband, Fred Gleason; and one sister, Margie Harvey.
She will be remembered especially for her love of her children and grandchildren till the end.
