Doyle D York

Funeral services will be at noon on Saturday in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Strasburg with Rev. Steven Becker and Rev. Gary Fortkamp officiating. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Strasburg. Memorials may be given to the St. Paul Cemetery Fund. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Strasburg.

Doyle was born on April 13, 1954 in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Derry Dale and Frances Lee (Brandt) York. He was a 1972 graduate of Stewardson-Strasburg High School and attended Lake Land College in Mattoon. He was a former part owner of York Bin Co. of Strasburg and MicroAge Computer Center of Decatur and Mattoon. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Effingham and a former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Strasburg where he was also a member of the choir. He served on the Strasburg Town Council and was a past member and officer of the Strasburg Lions Club.

Surviving are his parents of Effingham; sons, Derrick York and wife Nicole of Chicago and Dustin York of Milwaukee, WI; sister, Feleca Jenkins and husband Paul of Sun City Hilton Head, SC; nieces Stephanie Tracey and husband Jamey and Carrie Wartsbaugh and husband Caleb all of Oblong; nephew, Jackie Wade of Minooka, IL and three great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; and brother-in-law, Steven Wade.
