Dwight Baldwin

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. David McHenry officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to Cornerstone Community Fellowship, Quad County Hospice or donor’s choice.
Mr. Baldwin was born on September 4, 1922 in Shelby County, Illinois, the son of John Arnold and Nellie Pearl Murray Baldwin. He graduated from Lakewood High School in the Class of 1939. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II, serving in Sicily, Italy. He worked for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville until it closed in 1970 and then Caterpillar in Decatur until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of Cornerstone Community Fellowship and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #4829 and Moose Lodge #1294 all of Shelbyville. He was an avid Illini fan and enjoyed working his garden and yard. He married Betty Lou Rodman on March 15, 1942. She died on February 23, 2001.
Surviving are his son, Charles Roger Baldwin and wife Joyce of Shelbyville; daughter, Karen Gaston and husband Darrell of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Angela Carlsburg and husband Rob of Arthur, Illinois, Thomas Baldwin and wife Kathy of Jacksonville, Florida and Stacey Spears and husband Steve and Chadd Gaston and wife Kim all of Shelbyville; and great grandchildren, Ashley, Nicholas and Brody Carlsburg all of Arthur, Anthony Baldwin of Jacksonville, Florida, Heaven, Sadie and Brett Spears and Jordan and Brianna Gaston all of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; and sister, Donna Perry.
He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and was always there for his family and friends.
