Dwight L Campbell

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in the First Baptist Church in Shelbyville with Pastor Tim Yankee officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Greater St. Louis Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association to help further research and advances in medicine to help find a cure.
Dwight was born on March 8, 1940 in Mode, IL the son of Harry and Rose (Slifer) Campbell. He married Anita Jeanine Hall on October 19, 1963 in the First Baptist Church in Shelbyville, IL. They had three children, Marsha (Tim) Richards, Karen (Mark) Kennell and Kevin (Marci) Campbell.
Dwight graduated from Stewardson-Strasburg High School in 1958 and later graduated from Sparks Business College in Shelbyville, in 1960. Dwight worked at various jobs in Shelbyville, including Hygrade Cheese Factory, P & H Manufacturing and was the administrator at the Shelbyville Restorium. He later went on to serve 18 years as the Shelby County Clerk, before retiring early in 1996 due to failing health.
Dwight served his country as a member of the Army National Guard for six years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, the County Clerk’s Association, Shelbyville Rotary Club, Shelbyville Jaycees, and Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 of Shelbyville and served on the Shelby Memorial Hospital Board of Directors.
Dwight is survived by his wife Anita; daughters, Marsha (Tim) Richards of Cowden, IL, and Karen (Mark) Kennell of Rogersville, MO; son, Kevin (Marci) Campbell of Shelbyville, IL; sister, Joyce Danielson of Mesa, AZ, brother, Gerald (Brenda) Campbell of the The Villages, FL; nine grandchildren, Cory (Kami)Richards of Cowden, IL, Krista (Jeremy)Wolke of Toledo, IL, Nicholas Richards of Shelbyville, IL, Craig (Katie) Lenz of Gays, IL, Matthew Richards of Cowden, IL, Derek, Kayla and Drew Kennell of Rogersville, MO and Curtis Campbell of Shelbyville, IL; and six great grandchildren, Kolbi Richards, Koltley Richards, Jackson Lenz, Charlee Lenz, Gatlin Wolke and Grace Wolke and one more on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Beldon Campbell; sister, Virginia Osborn; infant sister, Julia Rose Campbell; sisters-in-law, Berneda Campbell and Pat Campbell; and brothers-in-law, John Osborn and Leroi Danielson.
Dwight was known for his passionate love for the Lord, his family, his country and his community. His life was spent doing all he could to serve others.
