Edith L Gregg
(July 13, 1919 – January 20, 2012)
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 26, 2012 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Jim Whitaker officiating. Visitation from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Fourth Street United Methodist Church.
Edith was born on July 13, 1919 at home in rural Clarksburg, IL, the daughter of Lorenzo Dow and Edna Campbell Williams. She was involved in the family farm and dairy operation for over 40 years. Edith was a member of the Fourth Street United Methodist Church of Shelbyville and a former member of the Clarksburg United Methodist Church, where she was the pianist for over 70 years. She married Virgil E. Gregg on April 2, 1938. He died on April 4, 2009.
She is survived by her son, David Gregg and wife Betty of Shelbyville; daughters, Janet Wines and husband Dale of Shelbyville and Donna Rutledge and husband Mike of Decatur; daughters-in-law, Carol Dawdy and husband Ben of Shelbyville and Cindy Gregg of Shelbyville; sister, Elsie Parr of Belvidere; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Williams of Morton and Doris Gregg, Jo Ann Gregg and Maxine Gregg all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Elaine Hardy, Michelle Kelm, Melissa Taggart, Rachel Banfield, Amy Metzger, Angela Canada, Alison Stephens, Scott Rutledge and Rebecca Richardson; and 13 great grandchildren with twins expected in March.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil; two sons, Byron Gregg and Darrell Gregg; brother, Dale Williams; and sisters, Beulah Grove, Lola Edwards, Alice Knapp, Gladys Mathis and Myra Miller.
