Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Linda Trent officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Fourth Street United Methodist Church, Shelbyville, IL.
Edith was born on May 13, 1921 in Jasper County, IL, the daughter of Lester B. and Bessie M. (Foltz) Metheny. She cleaned for Dr. Larson’s office and also for families in Shelbyville. Edith later was a grocery clerk at Johnston’s IGA in Shelbyville. She was a member of Fourth Street United Methodist Church and a former member of A.A.R.P. Chapter #4084 and Order of Eastern Star Chapter #69 all in Shelbyville.
Edith is survived by her niece, Phyllis Guilfoyle of Jacksonville, FL; and special friends, Darlene and Firmer Clarey of Shelbyville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Harold, Gayle, Dean and Wayne Metheny.
