Edna L McElroy

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 in Mound Cemetery, Cowden, IL with Rev. Lynette DeAtley officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 3:00-3:30 p.m. Saturday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Cowden United Methodist Church, Cowden, IL.
Edna was born on July 15, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of Frank Earl and Edna M. Deast Hockersmith. She served in the U. S. Army during World War II in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC). Edna was a member of the Cowden United Methodist Church. She married John W. McElroy on September 13, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. He died on July 8, 1970.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, John.
