Eileen Wood
(April 23, 1924 – October 18, 2006)
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, with Pastor Sherry Boswell officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 25, 2006, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Valley, Tempe, AZ.
Eileen was born April 23, 1924 in Shelbyville, Illinois, the daughter of Theron Fry and Grace Strohl Fry. She worked as a legal secretary in the patent office of Continental Can Co. before retiring to Shelbyville where she worked as the office manager of a nursing home in Sullivan. Eileen was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post #4829 of Shelbyville. She married Roy A. “Jack” Wood on February 1, 1942 in St. Charles, MO. He died on September 23, 2005.
Surviving are her son, John Wood and wife Linda of Oak Lawn, daughter, Mary Ellen Burgess and husband Dick of Chandler, AZ; and son, Jerry Wood and his wife Lori of Chandler, AZ; nine grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased in death by her parents; husband; son, Lonnie Lee Wood; and brothers, Noah Fry and Theodore “Wayne” Fry.
