Eleanor J Cox

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2013 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Phillip Glick officiating. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday. Casual attire is requested. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery on Williamsburg Hill. Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Tower Hill United Methodist Church or Lakewood United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Cox was born on September 4, 1920 in Cold Spring Township, IL, on Williamsburg Hill, the daughter of Charles and Dessie Mills Cunningham. On August 30, 1941, she married Ira Dean Cox. They lived on a farm in rural Tower Hill, IL for nearly 60 years where they raised their family. Eleanor was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening and reading. She was a member of Tower Hill United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Diana Hinz and husband Frank A. of Cowden, IL and Debby Thull and husband Dave of Lakewood, IL; daughter-in-law, Judy Cox of Tower Hill, IL; seven grandchildren, Vicki Williamson, Penny Beckman, Charlie Cox, Frank E. Hinz, Christopher Hinz, Kathryn Walker and Adam Thull; six great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ira Dean Cox; son, David Cox; brothers, David Cunningham and Wilbur Cunningham; and sisters, Elsie Nohren and Ethel Henderson.
