Elizabeth B. Speck, 96, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 5:35 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2017 in Shelbyville Manor, Shelbyville, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, IL or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Mrs. Speck was born on January 12, 1921 in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of George Truman Baptist and Ella Ruth Bartlet Baptist. She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1938 and Sparks Business College in Shelbyville, IL. Elizabeth worked for Attorney J. Maurice Stice, Ann Arbor Machine Company, The Oliver Corporation and the Shelby County Treasurer. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, IL, the Kum Dubble Sunday School Class, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary and the Thursday Club. She married Fred Nelson Speck in Shelbyville, IL, on November 26, 1942. He passed away on October 19, 1986.

Surviving are her daughter, Judith Ann Nicholson and husband William of Tinley Park, IL; grandson, Ryan William Nicholson of Tinley Park, IL; great grandchildren, Alexander Christian Nicholson and Olivia Ryan Nicholson both of Tinley Park, IL; brothers, Dwight Truman Baptist of Brentwood, TN and George Robert “Babe” Baptist of Sarasota, FL; and sister, Beverly Jean Hays of Nokomis, FL; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; her sisters-in-law, Bette Jane Baptist and Barbara Baptist; her brother-in-law, Howard Hays; and her step-father, John J. Smith, Sr.
