Elizabeth Bailey

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Rev. Lee Lovett and Dr. Bruce Owens officiating. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church Stained Glass Window Restoration Fund or the American Diabetes Association.
Mrs. Bailey was born on August 20, 1917 in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Karl and Edith Foster Hasslinger. She graduated from Olney Twp. High School in the Class of 1935. She was a telephone operator and Supervisor for the State of Illinois in Olney. She later worked in Shelbyville for Sta-Rite Ginnie Lou, Inc., L.E. Weakly Insurance Agency, Shelbyville Schools as a bookkeeper and First United Methodist Church as church secretary. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kum Dubble Sunday School Class and Thursday Club all in Shelbyville. She married James O. Bailey on April 9, 1948.
Surviving are her husband, James; daughter, Marilyn Thompson and husband Alan of Tower Hill; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Walter of Charleston and Katherine Walter of Mattoon; step-granddaughter Kelly Diaz of Florida; and two step-great grandchildren, Tristan and Mia both of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Glenn and W. C. Hasslinger and one in infancy.
