Ernest C Hardsaw

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Reverend Steve Livengood officiating. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville with military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army.
Mr. Hardsaw was born on November 8, 1925 in Harrison County, IN, the son of Andy Jackson and Anna Sarah Dannacher Hardsaw. He graduated from New Amsterdam High School in Indiana in 1943. Ernest served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After serving in the Air Force, he worked for Chicago Bridge & Iron and Superior Welding and King-Lar, Inc. both in Decatur, before being self-employed as Hardsaw Refrigeration Service. He was a past member of Refrigeration Service Engineers Society and the Tower Hill Lions Club. He married Carolyn Opal Kantner on April 23, 1950. She died on October 25, 2005.
Surviving are his children, Denise Orton and husband John of Tower Hill, Mark Hardsaw and wife Debbie of Mode and Connie Elder and husband Marvin of Shelbyville; six grandchildren, Chris Hardsaw, Lisa Wilham, Maggie Venters, Marci Williams, Steve Hower and Amanda Johnston; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carolyn; brother, Frank Hardsaw; and grandson, Jeffrey Lynn Hower.
