Ernest “Ernie” D Richardson
(February 18, 1936 – July 10, 2010)
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Robinson Creek Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Arthritis Foundation or the National Kidney Foundation.
Mr. Richardson was born on February 18, 1936 in Virden, IL, the son of Ernest D. and Sadie Mae Benedict Richardson. Ernie graduated from Virden High School. He was a car salesman for Leach-Wilson Chevrolet Buick in Shelbyville for many years. Ernie was an avid hunter and fisherman. He conducted seminars, wrote articles and published a book on hunting and fishing. He was a member of Christ Tabernacle Church in Herrick, IL and a former member of Virden Baptist Church. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He married Barbara E. Mills on January 5, 1957.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara; daughters, Vicki (Mike) Hightower of Shelbyville, Brenda (Mike) Sands of Shelbyville and Tammy (Joe) Thompson of Windsor; son, Ernie (Brenda) Richardson of Shelbyville; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and three sisters.
