Ernest L Kimmel
(February 12, 1946 – March 20, 2016)
He was born to the late Edwin L. Kimmel and late Genevieve Pierson, February 12, 1946, Shelbyville, IL. Ernie graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1964. He married Ruth (Thompson) June 24, 1967 in Olney IL.
Ernie has always worked in millwright work owning his own millwright business for several years then worked his last years at his perfect retirement job at the local FS Grain Elevator.
Ernie is survived by wife Ruth and two children: Amber Donnel (husband Mike) and Amy Russell (husband Darin), of Shelbyville, IL and three grandchildren Michaela Donnel, Connor Russell and Lauren Russell of Shelbyville, IL. He also has four brothers: Elwin Kimmel, Eldon Kimmel, Noel Pierson and the late Jim Pierson.
Ernie’s passion was his family, motorcycles and traveling. He also looked forward to family game nights. Ernie had planned, but had not yet taken a trip along the Coastal Highway in California. This summer, his family will make this final trip to spread his ashes as his final destination.
In keeping with Ernie’s wishes, there will not be any services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.howeandyockey.com.
