Eunice J Enkoff

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Dan Seibert officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Choir Fund of the First United Methodist Church in Shelbyville.
Eunice was born on May 2, 1936 in Crawfordsville, IN, the daughter of Noel Omar and Ruby Lavern (Sharp) McMurry. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in the Class of 1954. Eunice was also a graduate of Indiana State University with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She was the Student Council President during her time in college. Eunice taught for several years in Paxton, IL and was a substitute teacher in Shelbyville, IL. She married Robert Dwain Enkoff on June 7, 1958 in Crawfordsville, IN.
Eunice was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville, IL. She was very active in the church, where she sang in the Chancel Choir and John Hawk Vesper’s Services, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School, and participated in bible study groups and prayer groups. She also volunteered by teaching bible study at the Shelbyville Manor for several years.
Eunice was a devoted wife and mother. She was very involved in her children’s activities throughout their lives. She called herself the “taxi” as she drove them around to the various events and lessons in their younger years. She loved being a grandmother and took great pride in her family and their accomplishments.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, Shawn Rickett and husband Bradley of Shelbyville, IL; son, Scott Enkoff of Shelbyville, IL; granddaughter, Megan Knearem of Shelbyville, IL; brother, Frank McMurry and wife Mary Ann of Carmel, IN; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
