Evelyn I Johnston

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to Quad County Hospice.
Mrs. Johnston was born on September 15, 1928 in Bruce, Illinois, the daughter of Lee and Ada Pearl Rich Welton. She worked for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company in Shelbyville for 17 years and then provided in-home care for 15 years. She married John R. Johnston, Sr. on January 1, 1948. He died on March 4, 1984.
Surviving are her sons, John Johnston, Jr. and wife Chris of Cowden, Mike Johnston, Sr. and wife Cecelia of Shelbyville and Larry Johnston and wife Carla of Shelbyville; daughters, Brenda Greer of Decatur and fiance Mark Reynolds, Julie Mars and husband Daryl of Red Bay, Alabama, Laurie Riley of Shelbyville and Missy Depew and husband Wes of Shelbyville; sisters, Charlene Campbell of Shelbyville and Ada Martz and husband Howard of Oroville, California; 13 grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, Steve Johnston; daughter, Sandy Garmon; brothers, Carl, Cecil, Glen, Harold, Earl, Lee, Jr. and Billy Welton; and sisters, Maxine Smith, Ruby Teed, Doris Hart and Irene Johnson.
