Fanny L. Urfer , 79, of Tower Hill, IL, passed away at 7:27 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Pana Community Hospital, Pana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Tower Hill Free Methodist Church with Pastor Archie Fox officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, near Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.

Fanny was born on December 11, 1942, in Tower Hill, IL, the daughter of Justice L. and Maribelle (Shanholtzer) Spracklen. She graduated from Tower Hill High School in the Class of 1961 and went on to earn her RN degree in Alton, IL. She married Dean Wesley Urfer on July 13, 1968 in Tower Hill, IL. Fanny worked as a registered nurse at the Shelby County Health Department for many years and retired as the Director of Nursing at Olivewood Health Care in Shelbyville.  Fanny served the Village of Tower Hill as mayor for over 30 years and loved being involved in her community. She was a member of the Tower Hill Free Methodist Church and enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and donating blood to the American Red Cross.

Fanny is survived by her husband, Dean; granddaughter, Aerielle Stephens (Kevin Mars) of Mattoon, IL; grandson, River Stephens (Callie Bullion) of Mary Esther, FL; great grandson, Dawson Mars of Mattoon, IL; brother, George Spracklen and wife Pat of St. Peters, MO; sister-in-law, Donna Spracklen of Thomasboro, IL; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Justice Spracklen; mother, Maribelle Shanholtzer Spracklen Hostetler; step-father, J. Fred Hostetler; daughters, Angela Stewardson and Danielle Urfer; brothers, Peter, Roy and Paul Spracklen and Richard and Fred Hostettler; sisters, Ruby Buesking, Diane Largent, Joyce Thompson and Edana Karnes; nephew Michael Todd Spracklen; and niece, Margaret Spracklen Moreno.
