Florence E Figgins

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 in Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Kathy Lewis officiating. Visitation from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. Saturday in the church. Burial will be in Lower Ash Grove Cemetery, near Strasburg, IL. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to Strasburg United Methodist Church or the Stewardson Area Ambulance Service.
Florence was born on October 16, 1924 in Michigan City, IN, the daughter of Joseph and Clara Bexter Swiger. She was a housecleaner and then worked for the Stewardson-Strasburg Community School District as a cook for 27 years. She was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church. Florence was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Duke University basketball team. She married Garl F. Figgins on April 28, 1945 in Michigan City, IN. He died on July 24, 1988.
She is survived by her son, Mac Figgins and wife Debbie of Strasburg, IL; daughter, Sandra Bugenhagen of Mode, IL; sister, Mary Patrick of Pratt, KS; grandchildren, Sheryl Vonderheide and husband Rick of Stewardson, IL, Doug Rincker and wife Marla of Strasburg, IL, Kathy Weston and husband Garrett of Towanda, IL and Kelvin Figgins of Strasburg, IL; granddaughter-in-law, Marilyn Figgins of Stewardson, IL; ten great grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; and three step-great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Garl; son-in-law, Carl Bugenhagen; two grandchildren, Fieldon James Figgins and in infancy, Kenneth Rincker; and nine brothers and sisters.
