Forrest B. Price, 93, of Girard, formerly of Shelbyville, died at 3:55 p.m. Sunday, March 14, 2010 in St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 in Glenwood Cemetery with Al Taylor officiating and military rites by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Friday in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Shelby County Honor Guard.

Mr. Price was born on May 15, 1916 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Carl and D. Fern Blue Price. He was a graduate of Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1932 and Sparks Business College in Shelbyville. Forrest was a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, serving in the Pacific. He began working for the Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville before his time in service and returned to work there following the war. He later worked for Blaw-Knox in Mattoon, IL, retiring at the age of 70 as Vice President of Purchasing. He was a member of the South Second Street Church of Christ, V.F.W. Post # 4829 and Roy Vanderpool American Legion Post #81 all in Shelbyville. Forrest was a former Shelbyville City Councilman and worked the scoreboard at basketball games and the chains at football games for Shelbyville High School. In his retirement, he enjoyed making candy and wooden toys. He married E. Louise Milner in June 1943.

Surviving are his wife, Louise of Girard; son, Jack Price and wife Vida of Palmer; daughters, Sharon Day and husband Paul of Ellenton, FL and Nancy Taylor and husband Al of Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren; and one great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Maurice and Naomi Price.
